Our House's Twin

I found this photo in the newspaper over the weekend and at first, I thought it was our house. It is so similar, it is a little fancier than ours though and is in another town. It makes me wonder if our house was from a popular plan, like from a book, or if they were built by the same builder, or if it was a kit type house. We have found so little information about our house, and no pictures so far.

Very similar! You're just missing those two windows on the front, and the gingerbreading!

We wondered if our house was from a plan too, and we got tons of reprints of plant/kit books on interlibrary loan to look through. No luck yet, but it's been a fun search. I think Dover Publications republishes a lot of the old books. I just searched them out on Amazon then entered the info on our interlibrary loan request forms.

I have not found a lot of info on our house, like you. Many people have stopped by over the last year to praise what we're doing, one couple was a former owner in the 80s. That was about all we got, and I told them to stop by again some day so I could serve them coffee and talk.

WE also found alot of papers lining the stud bays - from 1913, which is when we figure the house was made (as opposed to what the real estate listing said).

Thanks for the comments on my blog, you sound like people we'd like to meet (specially if you hang out in Barnes and Noble). I am going to check out the book you list (It's about the bike).
